Cut

The other night me and Kade felt wild and crazy.  We decided to give Emma bangs.  Her hair is constantly in her face and I HATE fighting with her to do her hair.  Kade is the hairdresser in our home since my hands are worthless with hair and he actually does a really good job.  I kept a little piece of her hair as keepsake for her first haircut.  There are food chunk on the tips.  I left them there.  It seem appropriate to stay true to how it always was.

Family

Kit and Diane came down a couple of weeks ago.  We had fun shopping, eating, going to spring training, and most importantly the zoo.  Actually the zoo was exhausting and hot...but still fun.  It had everything we needed:

The Baboon

The Navigator

And the Goat Tamer

Kit played the Grandpa card well by bring home doughnuts, oreos, goldfish, milk, and loads of other treats {important to note that there were some healthy grapes in the mix}.  Pretty sure I ate them all.

Locked up

Don't let these sweet faces fool you.  The other day I was gathering up all our toys/bikes from the park.  The girls ran inside ahead of me and slammed the door.  I threw everything onto the porch and proceeding to walk inside.  Only one problem the door was locked.  I knocked and rang the door bell and all I heard were little giggles on the other side.  No worries the side door is unlocked, I'll just walk around.  Once I get to the side door I tug it open, no wait they locked that too!  I peak in and see them both staring at me.  I yell for them to open the door and they both laugh at me.  I then hear "Emma come on!  Lets go up stairs!"  Both run off laughing so hard they almost trip going up the stairs out of sight.  At first I thought it was cute/funny.  I had my phone.  I talked to some friends, my mom, and Kade.  I even had some alone time and let the sun shine down on my face.  During my quiet reflections under the sun I started thinking about all of the things they could be getting into upstairs.  My heart started to race and I realized that it had been a half and hour and I hadn't heard anything from them.  They need me every 5 minutes when I'm inside how come all of the sudden they are independent?  I started pounding on the door and they come back downstairs.  After walking back and forth from the front door to the side door and Olivia getting unstuck from behind the couch I was finally let in.  They both sat in time out with big pouty lips and alligators tears after that!  I sure showed them.

Then I gave them big hugs and kisses.  Whipping away all there tears.  I haven't been locked out since.

Schooled

A couple months ago we were at the park with the girls.  Olivia tends to go and set right next to other adults {strangers} that are there and just stare at them or lean in on their leg.  Awkward yes...but this park trip she was following a bunch of older kids around.  She was going through a phase where she was either acting like a dog or cat.  Today it was a cat.  I walked over to where they were to make sure that she wasn't bugging them.  She was meowing and licking her hand when a boy said "Hello little cat, Please don't go by my dad.  He is allergic!"  The girl next to him said, "She is not a cat!"  The boy then responded, "I know that!"  Oh I wanted to run up to him and give him a great big hug, knocking that girl down on my way there!  He understood Olivia and I was thankful he didn't look at her and give that awkward smile that so many other people do.

Last week Olivia started her preschool.  She is going for a couple of Social delays that she has.  It has been a learning experience to see where I really am at on the scale of caring what other people think.  Livi has never been "ahead" of the game in mental development and I've had a hard time not getting embarrassed when she's not talking or interacting as well as the kids her age.   I'm thankful for it in the sense that I have been able to focus on things that really matter, like her kindness, sensitivity, and her happy demeanor.  I just never want her to get her feeling hurt but I know it is not realistic.  It will be good for both of us to work through the pain that comes with making friends and figuring out who you are.

First day on the bus!  She looks only slightly terrified!

Easter

Happy Happy Easter!  My personal favorite.  We started a new tradition this year.  Each painting a wooden egg.  I think it will be fun seeing the girls egg change in skill and creativity through the years.  Eggs listed from Oldest to Youngest: Kade {real old} going for the Charlie Brown look, Me copying someone off of pinterest, Livi layered her colors, while Emma experimented with color combinations.  Creating a beautiful pink/orange.

We then had a neighborhood Egg Hunt...

Where is Emma you ask?

In the background.  She hates pictures!

Hope everyone had a good weekend!

p.s.  My friend is starting a little business make cute ties for babies and toddlers.  If you have a facebook account look for "Totally Ties".  They are really cute and make me want a little baby boy.

Blessed

As I listened to conference this weekend I also watched Kade interact with the girls.  I felt extremely blessed to see how safe and loved they feel with him.  I'm thankful he isn't afraid to color Minnie Mouse, sleep on Princess couches, and console dramatic hearts when life has been overwhelming {including mine}.  I also know that he doesn't do it for the hugs and kisses alone.  He respects his Priesthood and honors Fatherhood.  I've realized this weekend that this is the only thing that matters.  When our weaknesses seem to taint our own relationship I need to think back on these moments and be thankful for a husband who puts what matters most as his top priority.  I needed to learn that this weekend because frankly we had been driving each other nuts!

For some reason me and Kade started talking about old embarrassing moments
we had with long lost loves.
Mine was in 1st grade when me and Jared Porter were secretly holding hands on the reading rug. He started to feel my nails, picked up my hand, looked at it in disgust and said "Why don't you ever paint your nails!".  He then dropped my hand and put all attention into the book then being read.  Everyone around me became a blur as my eyes watered over.  I then looked at the girl in front of us and noticed her bright red nails.  It must be her that I lost the love of my life to!  I don't think there was ever a seven year old more saddened that day by lost love and ugly hands.
Kade then shared with me an experience he had as a 12 year old in his friends back yard.  They were all "hanging out"  and Kade decided to show off his stuff on the trampoline.  When he made his move to get up he farted...leaving an awkward silence trailing behind it.  To make matters worse his crush was setting right beside him.  It seems many of his awkward moments revolve around a fart.
